My long lost friend (friend for few months and lost for 17 years) called me at 5.06 pm....

Public-phone and Air-pump

before cellphone started to be widely used, i used public phone when i needed to have a peaceful teleconversation.....all because my parents' place (had been staying with them for many years before i moved here) was very small (and it is still the same size) but the havoc it holds at any one time is close to the one we would encounter at wet market......(BTW, neither i nor any one else could do anything to curb the havoc as the house has been the official meeting point of my siblings who define bonding and comradeship as 'the-more-havoc-the-closer-we-get!!!!!!')

.....so back then i was never able to be on line without the other person at the other side of the line asking me whether 'is the ship u r on sinking?' or 'how many kids have u got by now?' or 'r u sure it is ok we talk now?'....and the sorts.....

so, off i went looking for public-phone center in the area......and what ticked me off every time was .... only one out of three or four booths (and the phone inside the booth) was ok (if i was lucky) and i had got to go to three or four public-phone center (before i got lucky) in the area.....and many times (m no-luck person) got to go out of the area to find one public phone which was in a good working order ......

thank God cellphone came into the picture and i am saved from having to observe vandalism take place like there is nothing wrong with it....

and after 17 years or so and this memory of public phone has no longer crossed my mind, three days back while at a gas station in my new place trying to fix my flat tire, the entire episode of being at public-phone center got refreshed......(look at the pictures)....

...killing-me angry!!!

Paintball or Painball

This picture was taken in 2007. I was not and had never been into paintballing. But the kind of person I am, I would take any chance of trying anything once in a life time (and yes I have certain rules to 'anything in life' though).

My experience on an archery field some 17 years back repeated on this paintball field......I could not focus on a target, hold a weapon and target it at a victim....it was very painful to try and only God knows why I am so....

Now the Tallest Building is........

.....the tallest building here now is seen at the background (the distant look is not accidental so not a word about it ok).....it has been completed and the occupants have been moving in stages since the last three weeks or so. got the chance to get to the highest floor and view the surrounding area two weeks back, after attending a meeting with the local council.....

....will post clearer picture of this 22-floor building upon official announcement that 'this is the building!' ....reportedly would take place in dec.....

.....the picture was taken one and a half km from the building (before some other building stand in between the building and the kfc).......before i leave this place (one of these days) would come at this same spot and take an 'after' picture....just to compare with this 'before' picture...

Malaysia, Singapore and Seafood

i went to this place breaking-fast one day in last year fasting month and last two weeks i went again for the same reason. twice being here and the place was twice a full house. what makes it special other than the fresh and spicy-to-taste seafood is its location....on Malaysia facing Tebrau Strait, where Singapore seems near (it is near! otherwise Mas Selamat would have not made it!!!)...

the owner told us he had just replaced the old timber structures (part is in contact with sea water)....and it cost him less than RM100,000 (which normally cost others RM300,000)......ya, it looks much better than it was last year....

next time i go, m going to take pictures of the dishes.....

The Tallest Building

these are the two tallest building here. they may not be the tallest by the number of floors but definitely tallest for being on higher ground than the other many (not many actually) multiple story buildings here are. ve been relocated here for one year (another few days to one year). everything is now familiar to me, no strange feeling creeps into me being at any corner of this town anymore.

Paragliding

these are pictures taken on my first paragliding trip (finally able to upload after two weeks of oops-failed-to-upload-again-what-else-should-i-try killing hours).....

views from the paraglider take-off point ~ the river-surrounded-carey island, street of malacca, ship and local villages ~ all are breathtaking. while taking these pictures, the jugra hill lighthouse was at the back of me. btw, this is also one of the spots where sighting of the moon to determine the month of ramadhan and syawal in Malaysia is performed every year.

had always wanted to do it (paragliding) before. God willing ~ would not be my last.

PS: it was not morning-mist or error of my camera, the haze originated from the sumatera forest fire...in case anyone wonders...

just what is not right

still cannot believe have wasted one week trying to figure out how the search engine works!

while the blog was out of whack, I texted my two good frens, Shrfh and Sry, and talked them into blogging. apparently am not good at it (talking people into something). on a positive note, Shrfh asked me to get mine started so that she could take a look (I truly hope she would consider my point after taking a look)...

anyway, got a strong feeling the chance they ll change their mind (to start blogging) at this moment is as remote as the time we ve been able to make for having tea together for the past 20 years.....

gals, i know you two are xtremely busy and fyi i too do have more serious errands to run BUT if i don't start doing something different m definitely going bananas...

and also, this girl, Azra, been xchanging texts with me after mid nite for the past one week.....i know she is an insomniac just like I am......but she is only nine and some 350 km apart...communicating by any means is not helping (to sleep) at all...

got to start finding out what is not right...

m actually an IT-retard.

by God's grace two years back I came across a blog of a funny saudi telling stories of life in Saudi Arabia. he had stopped blogging by the time I discovered his blog but the blog was still there and I read all his entries. whether he made the stories up or they were real (some were ~ I made the effort to confirm!), the way he carried himself presenting them was classy - i smile every time thinking about the blog.

a blogger fren, Ain, suggested I start blogging. before I said anything she told me she knew my answer - the first sentence, not the title, of this entry echoes!!!!! -

after giving it some thoughts....... m telling myself why not.......may lighten someone's heart the way the saudi's had done mine.......
